The 'I am series' is a trio of picture books aimed to encourage and empower children to be themselves. The books focus on fostering the creative minds of kids and building a relationship and love for the earth. From butterflies to bears, rainbows to stars, and skateboarders to superheroes, i am showcases the infinite possibilities of who a child is and who he or she can become. 
 
The author, Hayley Starr, tapped into her inner child to develop the books by sketching herself in her childhood imagination. The result was a collection of illustrated affirmations that acknowledged the minds and hearts of children.  Rather than emphasizing a separation between boys and girls, the series aims to nurture both the masculine and feminine qualities of each gender.  Fans of the 'I am' books include celebrity moms Heidi Klum, Reese Witherspoon, Sienna Miller, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Josie Maran. 
 
 The first book, i am girl, shows girls to be both feminine and empowering. On the flip-side, the second, i am boy, shows boys that they can be both masculine and sensitive. The third, i am earth, is a more gender-neutral book that connects all children to nature to remind them that we are all one, a seemingly simple idea that is getting lost in our technology-obsessed world. 
 
The books are geared towards ages 0-5.
